Fearless In 2014: I Suck At This

Hello readers!

First off, I’d just like to say how humbled I am that you even read what I have to say. I’ve been checking the stats of this blog and I’m blown away by how many people from all around the world stumble upon my little nook of honesty. In this day and age, it’s so hard to grab anyone’s attention and the fact that you take the time out of your day to read my words is amazing. Thank you!

So I’ve been realizing that I suck at this ‘fearless’ thing. But…I’m still hanging on. In fact, my fears are suffocating me, but each morning is a new opportunity to push them out of the way and face the day with a brave face.

I often find myself saying, “I suck at this” a lot. For many different reasons, too. Finding a job, letting go of fear, dating (I don’t date. Never been on a proper date in my life but hey, whatevs), sports, and life in general. Guess what, though? It’s okay!

It’s okay to suck at certain things – at life. We all do. We all like to put on a tough face and portray to the world that we have it all covered but we’re lying. If you’re not, I’m envious. All we can do is pursue what we love. Love who we love. Stop worrying about if you’re doing it right because life doesn’t come with a set of instructions. Your parents weren’t given a user manual at birth that continues into your adulthood. There’s no book titled: Hey Kid, This Is How You Do Life. If there were, I don’t know about you, but I’d feel really fucking miserable!

Whenever people are mindlessly making me feel like shit for not doing things the way “you’re supposed to do them” I remind myself of that. I suck at this, but hey, it’s okay. It’s always gonna be okay. You know how you get better? You keep trying.

Maybe I’ll be old, alone and 40 by the time I find a decent job (please God, help me out, will ya?) and I’m sure there are still a lot of things I haven’t discovered that I suck at yet, but never let that discourage you from being the best you and from trying. That, to me, is pretty fearless.
